Computer Build Final 2 Components.

The final 2 components for my computer build is here!  Let me show you what they are.

This is the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler.  I am using this as a replacement for the stock cooler that came with the CPU.  Especially with my type of CPU.  So, this should be good.  I would like thank @wowtorreon.  Because watching his build videos on YouTube is what inspired and helped me make my decision to get and use this.  Thanks WowTorreon!

Due to budget constraints, I chose this for my GPU.  This is the Galaxy GeForce GT 640. It was on sale at Best Buy this week for only $69.99.  Regular price was $99.99.  So, with my budget, that was a good deal.

So now its time to start my build.  Wish me luck and I will try to keep you all updated.

New Computer Build. Unboxing in Pictures.

This post is for my friends, coworkers, and followers on Twitter.  I said that I was gonna do an un-boxing video on my new computer.  Turns out that I kinda suck doing videos and the camera that I am using kinda sucks too.  So, I thought that I would blog with pictures on my computer build.

See those 2 boxes?  Those are the parts of my new computer.  Let's get started!

This is the case that I am going to use.  It is a CoolerMaster HAF 512.  Researched alot of cases, but settled on this one.  Also good for the price.

This is the Power Supply.  It is a Seasonic M12 II 620 Watt Modular Power Supply.  I was going to get a Corsair 500 Watt PSU (CX500) but I have read alot of bad reviews on the Corsair PSU.  It kinda scared me.  So, after reading alot of posts on the Newegg forums (see http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/130527/ShowForum.aspx), I have decided to spend the extra $20.00 for this PSU.

This is the Motherboard that I have selected.  Its a Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H. Its a low end model, but I have a limited budget.  It will do for what I am going to do with this computer.

Here is the CPU and the Memory.  This is the Intel i5 3570K CPU on Ivy Bridge.  Again, from the forums, this is the best CPU to get and it can be overclocked.  But believe my when I say that I never overclock my computers.  I am not doing a lot of gaming except for Wow, but if I decided to do more PC gaming, then maybe.  We will see.

The memory is the Corsair Vengeance 8GB ram.  I am a bit worried about this ram as I also read about problems with this brand.  If I have any problems, I will let you know.

These are the Hard Drives that I am using.  On the left is the Seagate Barracuda 500GB Hard Drive. And on the right, a WD Blue 320 gig from an older system.  This is all I need as alot of my files are saved on a 2TB external network hard drive.  I hope to add an SSD in the future to use as a boot drive.

Lastly, I have here my 2 optical drives.  I always like to have 2 drives because I have alot of files stored on DVD-RW's and I like to be able to transfer data between 2 disks then going from disc to HD and then put another disc in and moving from HD to disc. I also like to do other thing that I will not discuss on this blog.

I got 2 more things coming tomorrow, before I start the build.  I graphics card and a CPU cooler.  With the advice of one of my twitter followers and someone I subscribe to on Youtube, I made a decision to get an after marker CPU cooler instead of using the stock cooler that comes with the CPU. I will picture unbox those tomorrow.

I will try to document the build in pictures as I am putting the computer together. So, until next time!

1st Post and X-Box Problems

Greetings, I am attempting to restart a blog that started years ago at live journal. I want to try to write about things in my life, like what I am doing, new acquisitions DVD's and games. Also, I like to talk about Tv shows, movies and Netflix stuff, although I don't go to movies that much anymore.  So, lets start on my first topic.

In September 2007, I purchased my first and only X-box 360 system.  I have never had any problems with it up until my latest game, Star Ocean: The Last Hope.  Throughout the game, I have been experiencing a lot of game freeze ups which is costing me lost game play. It happens every 45 min to an hour of game play.  It freezes up mainly after the battles and sometimes during the cut scene. But I did figure out that if I press the guide button, the cut scene continues. I am having to replay the game from the last save point. I don't know if its the game or the system.  So, I started an experiment.

I took my system in to have the vents and the laser lens cleaned.  Meanwhile, I took my game to a friend of mines house and played a 2-hour session of my game putting it through its paces.  She has the newer version of the system.  Not a single freeze up.  The shop people told me that they ran my system for 4 hours with no freeze-ups. So, I brought it back home and hooked it back up.  Here is what I am gonna do next.

I will play a session tonight and if it freezes up again, then I will purchase a new copy of the game and see what happens. If the new game freezes up, then I will have no choice but to purchase a new X-Box system.

Although I am writing this at 3:00am, I did play a session, so guess what! The games once again freezes after only 10 minutes of play! So, tomorrow, I will purchase a new copy of the game and we will see what happens from there.

Until next time.
